Bursaries will be made available to students studying degrees that will provide essential or identified skills within the Banking Industry.

Absa invests in the best talent for the future by providing financial support  to top performing students studying or intending to study on a full-time basis towards wide variety of qualifications.

Any individual is eligible to apply for a bursary provided that he/she is able to show that
  • They have not received any other bursary or assistance
  • They are pursuing a course of study in a discipline that will benefit the Banking Industry
  • They are registered at a recognised Tertiary Education Institution in South Africa
  • They are a Southern African citizen.
The bursary includes full tuition fees and will be stratified according to the annual bursary award and the individual’s needs. You will be assessed every year and if your performance is satisfactory, Absa will continue to sponsor you.

The Bursary Programme Selection Criteria

Applications will be assessed on the following criteria
  • Their academic proficiency
  • Their tertiary level of education
  • Their financial need
  • Their behavioural competencies
Bursaries will be made available to full-time students who are studying toward qualifications which will provide essential or identified skills within the Financial Services Industry. An individual is eligible to apply for a bursary provided that he/she is able to show that:
  • They have not received any other bursary for the same period for which they are applying for sponsorship from Absa
  • They are pursuing a course of study in a discipline that will benefit the Financial Services Industry, including: Industrial Engineering, Accounting, Risk Management, Mathematics, etc.
  • They are registered at a recognised Tertiary Education Institution in South Africa
  • They are a Southern African citizen with permanent residence status, or a Namibian citizen
  • They have not failed any subjects and have an average of above 65% for the current academic year
  • They have completed their first year of study
